Full-time Adult Counselor
Harmony Project, a department of YWCA Greenwich, is seeking an experienced clinician to join our dedicated and highly trained team of domestic and sexual violence advocates. YWCA Greenwich is a state designated domestic violence service provider and member of the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence, as well as a RAIN-affiliated provider of sexual violence services. Harmony Project delivers a full spectrum of services for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence. All services are free and confidential.
The YWCA Greenwich is seeking a compassionate individual with a commitment to working towards equity and social justice. The Adult Counselor is responsible for delivering high quality services to victims of domestic and sexual violence including short and long-term counseling, crisis intervention and advocacy. Candidates must be compassionate, trauma-informed, and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Adult Counselor is responsible for providing client-defined and culturally sensitive counseling services in person, via secure videoconference, and over the phone for individuals, as well as facilitation of support groups.
Best practice methodologies for trauma survivors include psychoeducation, mindfulness, CBT, DBT and EMDR, in addition to traditional talk therapy.
Domestic and sexual violence counseling also includes completing risk and needs assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, advocacy with other service providers and responding to 24-Hour Hotline.
All services are to be delivered using a trauma-informed and client-defined approach. Candidates must be knowledgeable of community resources and other available programs and services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Licensed Master’s level clinician
· Minimum of 3 years’ professional clinical experience, including working with individuals impacted by trauma
· Flexibility in approaches to working with a diverse group of clients
· Professional experience in domestic and sexual violence advocacy is preferred, but not required
· Candidate will maintain CT State Certification in Domestic Violence (provided)
· Reliable transportation and working telephone required
· Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and basic computer skills
· Personal qualities should include integrity, reliability, organization and commitment to the mission of YWCA Greenwich
· Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred
· Experience providing clinical supervision a plus

YWCA Greenwich provides comprehensive direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence through 24-hour hotlines, crisis intervention, counseling, court advocacy, and emergency sheltering. Recently we have added a Civil Legal Clinic and Financial Empowerment Coaching to our array of free services to victims. In addition, the YWCA Greenwich provides prevention education through extensive training of key members of the community and age-appropriate domestic abuse prevention programs through the Greenwich Public Schools.
