Michigan Plastic Surgery Center in Troy, MI, is looking for a Circulating RN with PACU experience to help staff our operating room. Specialties include breast augmentation, face lift, tummy tuck, rhinoplasty, liposuction and fat grafting. NO HOLIDAYS, NO WEEKENDS, NO NIGHT CALL, lots of perks!
Qualifications and Experience
· Licensed Registered Nurse
· BLS Certified
· ACLS Certified
· At least 2 years’ experience in an operating room
· Experience calling in pharmacy request
· Proficient in charting
· Good communication skills
· Adhere to quality standards
Responsibilities
Preoperative:
· Manage patient’s admission processes
· Assess the status of patient’s health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification.
· Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
· Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
· Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
· Ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff.
Surgery
· Following and completing assignments as given by the OR manager
· Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
· Gathering supplies and equipment for pre-op.
· Preparing pre op room for surgical procedures
· Restocking supplies in surgery suite when procedures have ended for the day.
· Monitoring of surgery inventory and notifying appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
· Circulating for surgical procedures for all surgeons that operate at the Columbia Center.
· Operate and prepare equipment (Active FX, Fat Grafting etc.) according to policies and standards, learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
· Documentation is complete, clear, concise and according to policy.
· Ensures that the Surgery Center is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
· Follow established universal precautions in the use of gloves, gowns, and/or mask.
Additional Responsibilities
· Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
· Maintains patient confidentiality by following the HIPPAA Compliance Plan established by the practice; releases PHI in accordance white practice’s HIPPA Compliance Plan, attends regular HIPAA training, maintains data security by refusing to share computer and other passwords, and reports all identified and suspected HIPAA violations to the Privacy Officer
· Completes CPR, OSHA and CLIA training programs
· Attends all regular meetings
· Performs all other tasks and projects assigned but the Medical Director, Surgeons or OR Manager
· This position has extensive access to PHI. It requires the review of computerized or paper-based medical records, lab results, and tests, to perform clinical duties as well as communicate effectively with patients. It may also require access to computerized and paper-based reimbursement data (such as referral forms) - which contain both a patent’s clinical and financial information.
PACU Responsibilities' in addition to the above duties:
Postoperative:
· Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
· Manage respiratory instability and cardiac monitoring activities
· Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
· Record sedation levels and body temperature
· Change bandages and dress surgical wounds (if necessary)
· Initiate patient education to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
· Determine when patients are ready to be moved
· Ensure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitized
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
