High school diploma or GED and four years of experience in the paint trade or related construction/maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Highly motivated, energetic, self-starter. Must have working knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and tools of painting and surface preparation. Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds; to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications; to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions without choice or variety; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; operate a personal computer; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Lifting of 50 pounds or more required. Ability to work in a quality service and teamwork environment.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Prepares, paints, stains and/or refinish building interiors and exteriors and other structures, equipment and furnishings (e.g. scrapes, scrubs, washes). Applies a variety of paint and other finishes to surfaces; mixes and matches paints, and other finishes; Performs minor repairs on damaged surfaces; estimates time, materials, labor, and equipment required for jobs; maintains records, supplies and equipment. May be assigned to assist with minor repairs and general maintenance issues. This position is designated staff during emergency and adverse weather events. Perform other work as required.
