Job Summary:
The Field Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment and vehicles, performing fluid transfer operations, and maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, driving trucks, assembling pipes, observing machine operations, and adhering to safety protocols. The role requires adaptability to changing project scopes and a commitment to maintaining a positive company image. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse environmental conditions.
The ability to travel for a minimum of 30+ days at a time is required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
General
- HDPE poly fusion
- Pigging of HDPE or lay flat
- Operates heavy equipment
- Maintains and cleans job sites, trucks, and shop
- Repairs and cleans spill containment
- Sets up, installs, and runs Wellpoint projects
- Assists in green tagging customer-owned equipment
- Organizes parts and fittings and conducts inventory
- Fills out all company and customer required paperwork
- Installs and monitors automation and alarm agents
- Loads, secures, and unloads materials and equipment
- Performs hydrostatic testing of equipment: pipes, hoses, filter pods, tanks, and fittings
- Installs pumps, hoses, valves, manifolds, fittings, flowmeters and various materials
- Operates manifolds, opens and closes valves, checks gauges and pressures including flowmeters
- Inspects equipment, company vehicles, and tools for safety and functionality
- Selects pipe sizes and types and related materials according to specifications
- Completes Job Site Analysis for customer or job sites where work is to be performed
- Drives trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment, personnel and perform job tasks
- Assembles and secure pipes, fittings, and related equipment according to project specifications
- Observes machine operations, gauges, and adjusting controls to maintain specified conditions
- Lays out and picks up poly line, lay flat, hose, running transfer pumps, and essential equipment
- Operates diaphragm, submersible, electric, hydraulic, and centrifugal pumps, with an understanding of valves, pressures, capabilities of pumps, and basic diagnostics
- Runs filtration units, carbon filters, sand media filters, bag or cartridge filters, monitoring tank levels, filter boxes
- Tracks and maintains company tools and supplies and reports any damaged or missing items to Supervisor
- Performs demonstration of equipment for customers upon installation and testing completion as required
- Ensures total customer satisfaction prior to leaving job site and answers any questions
- Uses hand and power tools; modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, pumps, and related machines and equipment following specifications
- Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydro-static testing, observation, or other methods
- Utilizes truck radios and cell phones to communicate amongst team members from the water source, booster pumps, and on frac location
- Adapts to changes in the scope of work, or failures in the project and develops solutions to keep the project operational
- Promotes cooperation and good communication with all employees and corporate personnel
- Performs all other duties as assigned by management or supervisors
Safety
- Assists in containment and spill prevention
- Attends and successfully completes safety training
- Utilizes proper PPE as required per specific job task
- Understands and follows all company Standard Operating Procedures
- Conducts inspections of fleet vehicles, trailers, equipment, and materials
- Follows all applicable safety procedures outlined in the company safety manual
- Follows all applicable rules/regulations including OSHA, EPA, MSHA and Customers
- Communicates job tasks, recognizes and mitigates hazards, and documents through Job Safety Environmental Analysis
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data
- Ability to read a map and calculate distances
- Ability to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment
- Able to use a calculator, cellular telephone, and tape measure/ruler
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment utilized in Fluid Transfer
- Strong verbal communication with supervisors, co-workers, and support staff
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as random drug testing
- Must be motivated, a team player, safety-oriented, and have a customer service orientation
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and demonstrate English language proficiency
- Valid driver's license and approved motor vehicle record (must be insurable with the company's carrier & no more than 3 moving violations in 5 years)
Experience:
- Dewatering: 2 years (preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
- PEC Safeland (Preferred)
- TWIC (Preferred)
- OSHA 10 (Preferred)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Working on or around roadways
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs. repeatedly
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders, staircases and catwalks
- Ability to work long hours and extended shifts
- Ability to perform under stress and/or in emergency situations
- Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors year-round with wildlife and insects
- Working on uneven terrain, through fields, culverts, ditches, alongside roadways, in tall grass, near water, and other environmental locations
