Nova Biomedical a Material Handler to support the Distribution/Production area of our Lexington Road, Billerica, MA facility (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM). This individual will play a key role in the support of manufacturing of high-volume Point-of-Care, kits packaging, and meter assembly. The Material Handler will be responsible for preparing materials required in maintaining a continuous supply of materials to the production floor. The Material Handler operates various material handling equipment related to warehousing activities, which also includes receiving deliveries in SAP and support of the Mold Shop. Other responsibilities include:
- Picking of production orders and timely delivery of materials needed throughout the consumer manufacturing lines.
- Continuously monitoring production lines, replenishing components as needed, ensuring line does not shut down.
- Maintaining location integrity and FIFO (First in first out) practices must be used when picking, moving or storing material.
- Maintaining inventory and location accuracy. Performing cycle counts as needed.
- Working closely with Group Leaders, Material Planners, and Purchasing, providing feedback regarding material shortages is a must.
- Consolidating raw materials increasing space utilization.
- Being able to navigate through the SAP warehouse management module is a must. this includes using barcode scanners for transactions.
- Putting away materials from incoming inspection, receiving and production floor.
- Receiving deliveries in SAP.
- Working with Purchasing to resolve issues with deliveries.
- Being backup to manufacturing material handler.
Miscellaneous:
- Being primary backup to the Group Leader. Being responsible for data entry, receiving, inter-plant transfers, picking STO, supporting mold shop.
- Maintaining an orderly, clean, and safe working environment, reporting unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Using practical approaches when problem solving.
- Being organized while compiling and maintaining appropriate records is a must.
- Carrying out any task assigned by management, which is deemed relevant to his/her position.
- Being backfill within the department, due to absenteeism/vacation of other employees is required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively read, and verbally communicate in English. Strong communication skills.
- Ability to preform repetitive motions including standing, walking, lifting, and bending for an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Forklift certification a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Inventory Management Systems preferred.
- Must work with a high level of accuracy and possess excellent organizational skills.
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Must have the ability to quickly adapt and learn new skills.
- Must be willing to generate new ideas for continuous improvement without being prompted.
- Must have a sense of urgency, with strong time management skills.
Skills/Competencies:
- Ability to operate specialized equipment typically used in warehousing.
- Strong attention to details, following instructions from verbal and written procedures.
- Must be reliable and possess a positive, can-do attitude.
- Must be able to working a team environment.
- Knowledge of Quality system requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping domestically, using UPS WorldShip, FedEx preferred.
- Basic computer skills. Microsoft office a plus.
- SAP experience STONGLY recommended.
- High Standard for personal performance.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Two (2) years' experience in warehousing, shipping/receiving, deliver or related work.
