SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of the Engineering Manager to serve as the engineering leader and technical expert; hire, train and supervise the engineering staff; propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects; create detailed engineering plans, processes and procedures for the engineering staff, while checking and confirming the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by the engineering staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Structure and general responsibilities
- Hiring and evaluating new staff members for the engineering department.
- Establish a new engineering structure and new engineering team built from process engineers, and technicians.
- Directing and managing the engineering goals, tasks and KPIs.
- Training and certifying the engineering team to assist and solve process related cases.
- Conducting internal FAIs for any new or updated product along the entire process.
- Testing and approving all new materials used on the manufacturing floor.
- Implementing and approving new machinery, tools and devices used for manufacturing.
- Reduce waste and increase efficiency of the manufacturing departments.
- Submit to Emporia’s VP COO a quarterly and yearly engineering operation status report.
Documentation and Methods
- Managing, writing, approving and implementing process related procedures and instructions for all manufacturing departments.
- Establishing and monitoring the RCA system to reduce reoccurrence of issues related to process.
- Establishing and monitoring ECO system to follow any changes in products and processes change.
- Managing all product structures through the ERP system, product trees and drawings.
- Documenting and publishing test reports internally and for customers.
- Creating a PFMA chart and updating it according to the manufacturing processes change.
Waste and efficiency
- Working closely with Quality to reduce waste and investigate root causes.
- Working closely with department managers and area managers to increase quality and efficiency.
- Analyzing waste by using system reports (E47) and scrap analysis reports from QA.
Material/processes approval and validation
- Test, manage and organize all materials used on the floor through the approved material system (FO033en).
- Establish a raw material validation system, implement and facilitate its use by the Quality department.
- Raw material analysis- verify all reported materials are in accordance to the product structure and fix any mismatch.
- Search, test and approve alternative materials to reduce cost and increase availability.
- Create and implement core process validations.
New products/projects
- Working closely with project management to implement new products or to update existing products.
- Approving and advancing new projects from design stage to manufacturing.
- Covering all technical aspects for FAIs.
- Creating products structures and managing the technical office.
Production Machinery
- Approving all Machinery and devices on the manufacturing floor that are related to the production processes.
- Working closely with the Maintenance team to solve machinery related issues, and approving machines coming back from service.
- Technically researching, advising and approving new technologies and new machinery for the manufacturing floor.
Training and Certifying
- Training and certifying all production managers and lids.
- Creating and managing a special training program that will help employees to better understand the work process (OSG University)
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (material, mechanical, chemical etc.), preferably from an ABET-accredited university.
- Master’s degree preferred.

- Good knowledge and experience in MS programs and CAD.

- Knowledge and experience in CAD and analytical software’s.
- Problem solver with analytical abilities to examine an organization's operating procedures and make recommendations on improvements.
- Good knowledge and experience in MS programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moderate physical effort required. Must be able to lift to 50 – 75 pounds and regularly required to stand, reach, and move about the facility. Work performed in a plant environment.
