Position Title: Wellness Teacher
Location: Inglewood, Ca
Position Type: Full-time - approximately 40 hours a week
Introduction: As a Wellness Teacher in our TK-12 school program, you will play a pivotal role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being among our students, educators, and the community as a whole. You will support the development and implementation of comprehensive wellness programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students from transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade. Through engaging curriculum, personalized instruction, and collaborative initiatives, you will empower students to adopt healthy lifestyles, cultivate resilience, and enhance their overall wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Manager: The candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing wellness spaces, school site programming schedules, and overall site operations. This may also include supporting Our Own leadership in future program development and spatial planning.
- Lesson Planning: Support in developing a comprehensive wellness lesson plan aligned with the Our Own curriculum and state standards, incorporating topics such as physical fitness, nutrition, mental health, stress management, social-emotional learning, and substance abuse prevention.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to address different learning styles and abilities, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for growth, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Individualized Support: Provide personalized support and guidance to students based on their wellness needs, interests, and goals, including one-on-one consultations, small group interventions, and referrals to appropriate resources.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and community partners to integrate wellness initiatives into the broader school culture and curriculum, fostering a holistic approach to education.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in wellness education through ongoing professional development opportunities, workshops, conferences, and networking as it relates to our overall program.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents, families, and community members through regular communication, workshops, events, and outreach efforts to promote wellness both inside and outside the school setting.
- Data Reporting: Support in collecting data related to student outcomes, program effectiveness, and stakeholder feedback to inform continuous improvement efforts and decision-making.
Qualifications & Preferred Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Specialized training or certification in wellness education, health promotion, or related fields is desirable.
- Previous experience working with TK-12 students in a school or educational environments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in wellness education.
- Bilingual communication is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to actively move around the classroom and school facilities in supporting student instruction.
- Capacity to lift and carry equipment/materials as needed for instructional purposes. Must have the ability to lift and easily move 25 lbs around a classroom.
- Flexibility to participate in wellness-related activities and events both indoors and outdoors.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in a school environment, with various off-site meetings, events, or activities.
- May require evening or weekend hours for special events, workshops, or conferences.
- Exposure to typical classroom noise levels and student interactions.
- Candidate will follow a traditional annual school calendar.

- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's qualifications, skills and experience.

- Salary Range: $73,000 - $81,500
