Loan Operations Manager
This individual will be responsible for leading the Loan Operations team, supporting the lending function and ensuring compliance with regards to all lending products. Their team will process and complete loan packages for construction, commercial and retail loans while ensuring all loan activities are conducted in compliance with regulations and bank’s policies. They are also responsible for ensuring all loans are booked accurately on the bank’s core operating system and ensuring data and loan coding accuracy. This individual will be responsible for all of the duties below which they will perform or will be performed by their team.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
- Lead team which receives all loan requests for new or renewed loans and performs or assigns duties for completion including preparing loan documentation and verifying that proper approvals have been obtained. Reviews or prepares the appropriate documentation needed for the loan request. Documents any credit policy or procedure exceptions.
- Maintain and demonstrate proficiency with loan software applications (including Laser Pro, Fiserv-Premier and BankManager). Work with system providers to utilize applications to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, and ensuring accuracy and compliance. Analyze, prepare, and train for periodic updates to system software and verify that enhancements are working correctly. Assist with system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments.
- Point of contact to provide requested documentation for audits and examinations
- Ensures collateral positions are obtained, perfected and maintained throughout the life of loans
- Acts as subject matter expert with regards to all loan operations questions and processes
- Work with closing attorneys and title companies to facilitate loan closings
- Ensure documentation completeness and accuracy for processing
- Ensure compliance with all applicable lending / banking regulations
- Process loan denials
- Ensures that all applicable credit reports, appraisals and flood determinations are ordered in a timely manner
- Books all loans on the core operating system
- Supervises all aspects of servicing commercial and consumer loans. This includes, but is not limited to, posting of payments and advances, construction loan administration, payment of insurance and taxes for all escrow accounts.
- Administers the tracking system(s) for insurance, taxes, reporting requirements, covenants, exceptions, and the collection of information for HMDA, CRA and other similar regulations.
- Maintains all credit and collateral files
- Conduct pre- and post-closing file / documentation reviews
- Manage participations with other financial institutions
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned
Required Skills/Qualifications
- 5-7 years of prior experience in bank loan operations
- High level of proficiency with Fiserv Premier and Laser Pro
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks
- Provide innovative ideas to improve overall efficiency within bank
- Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow through on commitments, meet deadlines and drive results
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: Outlook, Word and Excel
- Professional and polished demeanor
- Demonstrate initiative and taking ownership, ability to solve problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding that work hours can be heavy at certain times
Desired Skills/Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Economics
- Leader with a track record of mentoring and coaching, and a demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff
