Position Overview:
The Director of Speech-Language Pathology at Children’s Academy is a pivotal role within our administrative team, reporting directly to the Head of School. This position is responsible for the strategic development, management, and administration of our speech program, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision while meeting the diverse needs of our students. The Director oversees program planning, faculty and staff selection, budgeting, and professional development strategies. Additionally, they maintain a caseload of students to support program needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Management:
- Create and implement guidelines for speech-language pathology programs.
- Establish "best practice" guidelines, including ethical standards and quality assurance protocols.
- Develop major goals supporting the school's mission.
- Departmental Oversight:
- Manage departmental functions within the broader school mission.
- Approve policies relevant to speech-language pathology.
- Provide guidance to school administrators on speech-language-related matters.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Participate in administrative committees and interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Assist in creating equitable caseloads and coordinating job assignments.
- Collaborate on class and therapy schedules.
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Recruit, retain, and supervise speech-language pathology staff.
- Monitor staff certification and licensure status.
- Conduct staff development activities and mentorship programs.
- Operational and Promotional Responsibilities:
- Represent Children’s Academy and communicate on its behalf.
- Present expertise at conferences to promote the school's SLP programs.
- Coordinate special services and act as a liaison between SLPs and administration.
Competencies Desired:
- Master’s degree in speech-language pathology, audiology, or related field.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence and eligibility for licensure in New York.
- Minimum of five years' experience in speech-language pathology, including clinical practice.
- Leadership and management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
