Senior Design and Fabrication Manager:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Design and Fabrication Manager to join our team. This role is critical in transforming conceptual designs into detailed, manufacturable plans. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in 3D rendering, permit set preparation, and fabrication design, as well as strong project management skills to help oversee the design team.
Key Responsibilities:
- (Ensure the team) Create(s) high-quality 3D visual renders to align project expectations with customers.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide visuals that facilitate customer decision-making.
Permit Set Preparation:
- Develop detailed 2D plans confirming layout, equipment, materials, and finishing callouts for customer permitting purposes.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and permit requirements in the US and Canada.
Fabrication and Detail Design:
- Translate 3D renders and permit sets into comprehensive fabrication designs, bridge the gap between design and fabrication.
- Create detailed hand sketches of subassemblies (e.g., cabinets, generator boxes) for production use.
- Work closely with the workshop and subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely production.
Project Management and Team Leadership:
- Manage and coordinate the design team, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Develop and implement SOPs and checklists for design stages to ensure quality and consistency.
- Maintain and expand our database of .dwg models and design libraries to streamline the design process.
Product and Process Optimization:
- Interface with production teams to resolve issues and make decisions on manufacturing details.
- Assist in procuring components and subcontractor services by requesting quotes and managing relationships.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Proven experience in 3D design, rendering, and CAD software (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead a hybrid remote and on-site team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to create and understand detailed fabrication designs and (hand) sketches.
- Familiarity with mobile unit design (e.g., food trucks, RVs, ambulances)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of US food codes and electrical systems.
- Background in cabinet design or other millwork/machining/comparable
- Experience working with manufacturing and fabrication teams.
