As a Rock Climbing Shoe Cobbler Assistant, you will have the unique opportunity to specialize in the repair, modification, and maintenance of rock climbing shoes. Working closely with experienced cobblers, you will learn the intricacies of rock climbing shoe construction and develop the skills necessary to ensure climbers' footwear performs at its best. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about rock climbing and dedicated to providing climbers with high-quality, customized footwear.
Responsibilities:
Repair and modification: Assist experienced cobblers in repairing and modifying rock climbing shoes, including resoling, and patching to restore their performance and extend their lifespan.
Resole application: Learn the process of removing worn-out soles and applying new rubber soles specifically designed for rock climbing shoes, ensuring proper adhesion and alignment.
Customization: Assist in customizing rock climbing shoes to meet the specific needs and preferences of climbers, such as personalized fit adjustments or adding specialized features.
Quality control: Participate in thorough inspections of repaired and customized rock climbing shoes, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and safety before returning them to climbers.
Customer service: Interact with climbers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, discussing their shoe repair needs, providing expert advice, and ensuring their satisfaction with the services provided.
Inventory management: Assist in managing inventory of rock climbing shoe repair supplies, including rubber soles, adhesives, patches, and other necessary materials.
Learning and development: Actively engage in training sessions and workshops to expand your knowledge of rock climbing shoe construction, repair techniques, and customer service.
Work area cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the workbench, tools, and surrounding areas, to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of rock climbing shoe construction and repair is preferred but not required.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies related to rock climbing shoe repair.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from experienced cobblers.
- Genuine interest in rock climbing and a passion for providing climbers with optimal footwear.
