Medical Assistant for Outpatient Primary Care
The Medical Assistant is accountable for providing medical support services, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, offering support to clients throughout treatment and following discharge, providing information to program clients on medications, activities to support overall health and monitoring clients’ health and medication compliance. The Medical Assistant will support Medical Director of Primary Care in preparation for patient visits and daily operations of the clinic.
Full-Time / Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday to Thursday - 8AM-6PM
Payrange begins at $19.23/hour
QUALIFICATIONS
Medical Assistant Certification and two years relevant work experience required. Previous experience working with an EMR/EHR software systems, patient registration, documentation and filing.
Ability to remain professional and focused on client needs; excellent written and verbal communication skills; Initiative; willingness and ability to learn and to follow directions; ability to follow up on assignments through completion; client advocacy skills; compassion; a desire to assist clients to achieve successful recovery.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk, using the phone, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Valid Driver’s license required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect medical histories of patients.
- Conduct vital signs checks on program clients and maintains accurate and timely documentation.
- Assist and participate in patient visits.
- First aid including wound care and change of dressing.
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
- Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
- Coordinate medical treatment with specialty providers.
- Coordinate services with nursing service and pharmacies
- Meet regularly with Medical Director.
- Answer and triage communication to clinic.
- Schedule patient follow up appointments.
