JOB SUMMARY:
A person specifically trained and competent to provide ongoing program of activities to meet physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of Rocky Mountain Assisted Living residents under the direction, instruction, and supervision of Rocky Mountain Assisted Living Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the elderly
2. Ability to carry our written and verbal directions and to read and write.
3. 18 years of age or older
4. High School Diploma or GED
5. Experience providing care to the elderly
6. Certificate in therapeutic recreation or activities in a plus
7. Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office.

Reports directly to House Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans monthly activity calendar for the designated home(s), ensuring all resident’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs are being met. Activities should include but not be limited to:

Group and one-on-one social activities

Indoor and outdoor activities
-
Community outings
-
Spiritual programs geared toward current residents’ faiths

Creative activities such as arts, crafts, music and drama

Musical activities such as sing-a-longs and hired entertainers
-
Community promotion of Rocky Mountain Assisted Living
2. Coordinates and implements scheduled and impromptu activities.
3. Scheduled activities should be no less than 30 minutes in length. Assisted Living Activity Coordinators who work Full-Time (40 hours) are to schedule 6 activities per day, and Part-Time (30 hours) is to schedule 4 activities per day. Memory Care Activity Coordinators who work Full-Time (40 hours) are to schedule 8 activities per day, and Part-Time (30) hours are to schedule 6 activities per day.
4. Creates and posts activity calendar in a visible location in the home on or before the 1 st of each month.
5. Emails families, POA’s and guardians a copy of monthly activity calendar on or before the 1st for their reference and provides residents with a copy of the calendar in their rooms.
6. Ensures required materials are available at all times for scheduled activities.
7. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers.
8. Assess residents’ psychosocial needs and complete residents’ care plan.
9. Reminds and encourages residents to participate in activities.
10. Maintains monthly activity budget for the home, including employee costs at outings,
scheduled entertainers and activity supplies.
11. Participates in scheduled resident and family council meetings, ensuring scheduled activities are being well received and residents and families are given the opportunity to plan upcoming activities and outings.
12. Communicates with outside entertainers and schedules them in the home based on resident needs while maintaining a monthly budget.
13. Plans and attends scheduled outings and assists with resident care where appropriate.
14. Complies with safety regulations and policies.
15. Professionally and compassionately communicates with residents and families.
16. Ensures the home is decorated for the appropriate season/holiday.
17. Plans and conducts activities and events around holidays.
