General Job Description:
This hands-on position will be responsible for all day to day accounting operations. These include invoicing, managing accounts receivable and payables, preparing journal entries, calculating and recording WIP entries, preparing bank and credit card reconciliations, reviewing the payroll entry to ensure accuracy and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Excellent organizational and communication skills and follow-through are required.
The Bellwether Full Charge Bookkeeper will create a culture of superior service and coordination with members of the Bellwether staff, our subcontractors, and through communication with our customers. The person assuming the Full Charge Bookkeeper role will report and work closely with the Director of Business Operations. This is a full-time position.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of all accounting functions including, but not limited to, AP/AR, Invoicing, Bank Reconciliations and GL oversight:
- Ensures accurate and timely processing and managing of accounts payable
- Ensures accurate and timely processing and managing of customer invoicing and related accounts receivable
- Accurately records credit card transactions and prepares the monthly reconciliation
- Ensures that accounts are reconciled and balances are supportable (Prepaid Expense and Deferred Revenue)
- Performs general ledger management (including timely month-end close, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations)
- Perform Job Cost / Construction Accounting
- Ensures payroll entry is accurately recorded, make reclass journal entries when necessary
- Maintains strong working relationships with operating personnel
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Works with production and business units to track weekly payments to subcontractors and log payments and orders through our CRM, QBO, and additional worksheets
- Business Cash flow projections based on jobs report
- Work with the tax accountant on tax related issues
- Work with a CPA when necessary
- Conduct reviews for customer profitability and make recommendations for improvements
- Prepare and file annual Subcontractor 1099’s

Requirements:
- Colorado residents only.
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday 8:30 - 5:30pm (with a 60 minute lunch).
- College degree in Business Administration or Accounting highly preferred
- 2 or more years of experience in the bookkeeping and/or accounting fields
- Comprehensive knowledge of Construction Accounting a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools (Excel and QuickBooks Online)
- Experience with Acculynx and Bill.com a plus
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately
- Must be highly organized & detailed, able to work independently and collaborate with a small team and be able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- High level of professionalism is a must
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting
Compensation:
- This position is a full-time salaried position at $75-$85k annually
- Benefits package (eligible approx 60 days after start) includes: platinum level medical, dental, vision, basic life, short term and long-term disability
