RN Crisis Center PRN
Role Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Crisis Center RN Manager, the Crisis Center RN is responsible for providing nursing care to all individuals in the Crisis Center, a 22 bed residential facility. The position provides nursing care to individuals with a mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use/abuse diagnosis along with individuals with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and intellectual or developmental disability. Duties include delivering nursing care and coordinating nursing activities as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, document and evaluate nursing care provided to patients under the requirements of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Ensures medical admission criteria is met for all patients being admitted to the Crisis Center. Works closely with state and local hospitals. Works closely with other staff in the Crisis Center to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Performs tasks as assigned by the Crisis Center Manager and/or Crisis Center designated psychiatrist. Works as needed 13 hours shifts: 7am - 8pm or 7pm - 8am, with flexibility to meet program needs. Minimum commitment of one shift per month and one holiday per year. Responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the compliance policy. Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Must have excellent engagement, time management and organizational skills.
Salary
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills

Associate's Degree Nurse (ADN), Diploma Nurse (RN) from a three year college or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a four year college or university.

Licensed in the State of Texas or temporary license and must obtain permanent license within 6 months of hire and present documentation of application process to the State Nursing board for Texas.

Compact license acceptable according to current Board of Nursing requirements.

2 yrs registered nursing experience (not including clinical hours required for education).
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills

1 year of mental health/behavioral health/intellectual or developmental disability population experience

Spanish speaking
Job Related Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR.

Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.

Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
