JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; responsible for carrying out a variety of student monitoring; and modifies instructional activities as required. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned as required by the State Board of Education Certification
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
Applicants enrolled in an Alternative Certification program must provide proof of passing the content exam and meet the guidelines mentioned above. You must be eligible for one-year probationary certificate within twelve months from the date of employment.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned required
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program as required by district policy based on student needs.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Collaborate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and best practices according to district requirements.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned by the campus principal.
- Present positive role model for students.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior by establishing procedures and routines that are in alignment with and board policies, the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline Management Plan, student IEPs and/or behavior plans.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and staff members.
- Engage in and implement new learning from professional development that is aligned with campus and district goals.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and aligned with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Understand and articulate the campus and district mission and goals.
- Demonstrate awareness of district and campus improvement plans and initiate activities to address the needs identified therein.
