The Charter House Coalition Emergency Shelter for Individuals is looking to hire 2-3 persons to join our amazing team of shelter staff. The primary responsibility of this compassionate group is to maintain a safe and consistent environment for our guests and to help build a trusting rapport with those we serve both in our shelter and throughout the community.
If you are committed to helping all persons in need; can demonstrate the ability to exercise kindness, respect, and professional boundaries under all circumstances; are comfortable and familiar with de-escalation methods and crisis management; value honesty over ego; can clearly communicate verbally and in writing; are energetic and possess a fair amount of grit; can work independently, thrive with like-minded colleagues and volunteers; can maintain an organized and clean work environment; can be flexible and if you are interested and familiar with the current housing crisis and have the willingness to continue learning on behalf of those we serve, then we want to hear from you!
Experience working or volunteering at an emergency shelter or in a similar setting is appreciated but not required. Training will be provided. We currently have part-time openings for weekday and weekend shifts, 10-hour overnight shifts and per diem/as needed coverage. Applicants should be physically able to lift up to 50lbs and be able to use stairs.
