About the Ecological Farming Association (EcoFarm): The Ecological Farming Association is a 44 year old non-profit educational organization. EcoFarm's mission is to nurture safe, healthy, just, and ecologically sustainable farms, food systems, and communities by bringing people together for education, alliance building, advocacy, and celebration. Our programs bring together a diversity of stakeholders in California food production to promote grassroots leadership and regional solutions to decrease the negative impacts of industrial agriculture on environmental and community health. EcoFarm operates the largest sustainable agriculture conference west of the Mississippi every January.
Job Description: EcoFarm is seeking a Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, communications, project implementation, as well as a basic knowledge of sustainable agriculture and food justice. This position reports to the Executive Director. This position will assist with organizing volunteers for in October and curating the EcoFarm annual conference.
In practical terms, this position is responsible for all program coordinating activities related to the annual EcoFarm conference. The Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director. As a small organization, EcoFarm staff are required to engage in daily communication activities while setting broader strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a combination of experience in a high level of teamwork, event planning, and customer satisfaction. We recognize that not all candidates have this set of skills, and we will support candidates in their professional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Organizing volunteers for Hoes Down Harvest Festival in October
- Develop EcoFarm Conference programming and coordination of speakers
- Coordinate the implementation of programming oriented to our BIPOC audience, including Spanish language workshops, equity-oriented workshops, pre-conferences and affinity groups.
- Coordinate other conference activities and events as needed
- Organize and participate in planning committee meetings
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Assist on-site in implementing the annual EcoFarm Conference in January
- Commitment to advance Eco-Farm’s efforts in dismantling racism internally and externally
- Support efforts to build community among Eco-Farm’s stakeholders year-round
- Design and implement Dirt First webinar series with the Executive Director
- Schedule work trade and volunteer efforts for Hoes Down and the EcoFarm conference
Qualifications:
- One to three years of experience in event planning, adult education, training and technical assistance, or project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite (primarily Google Sheets and Docs), Gmail, Mighty Networks, RegFox, AirTable, NeonCRM, and Canva
- High personal standards for the quality and timeliness of work, proactive problem solver, and collaborative team player
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varied deadlines
- Commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression work, sustainable food systems, organic agriculture and food justice
- Spanish fluency (professional proficiency preferred)

Location
This position is remote, requiring Zooming in for weekly staff meetings, occasional in person meetings (held in the Santa Cruz and/or the Bay Area), and work hours between 9am-5pm pst, with some exceptions. This position requires attendance and onsite support at the annual EcoFarm Conference, typically held the third week of January in Pacific Grove, CA.
Start Date: July 18, 2024
Compensation: $35,700 compensation - $30/hour @ 30-hours/week from July-October, 40 hours/week from November-January, and 30 hours/week through the month of February. Potential to be a year round position. 40 hours or five days of paid sick leave is available per year.
