Job Title: Supervisor
Job Purpose: The Supervisor is responsible for helping the restaurant manager with the daily operations of the restaurant. In addition, they help oversee the inventory and ordering of food, beverage, and supplies. The supervisor is expected to optimize profits and ensure that customers are satisfied with their dining experience. The supervisor helps with communicating issues regarding culture, staff, facility, and financial well-being of the controllable accounts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
- At all times, provide a favorable image to promote its Philosophy.
- Complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations, and by conducting performance reviews.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure a safe, working and guest, environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly in the event a customer or employee is injured.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Ensure customer service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into returning guests.
- Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, customers, and company assets.
- Help provide a strong presence in the local community and high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel.
- Interview hourly employees. Organize second interview with the restaurant manager.
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Maintain a professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Oversee and manage specific responsibilities that the restaurant manager has assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
- Responsible for ensuring consistent high-quality of food preparation and service through the Chef de Cuisine.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage, and labor costs while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.
- Ability to determine the applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
- At least 1 year of management experience.
- Knowledge of computers to be sufficient in management functions.
- Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
- Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
- Pleasant, polite manner, and a neat and clean appearance.
- Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of report.
- Self-discipline, initiative, and leadership ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
- Management experience in a restaurant or food-handling environment.
Working Conditions: The conditions of this work environment are loud and fast-paced. Employees will work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment. They will also work with phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment. Hours may vary if the operator must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Employees are expected to work overtime when needed or as assigned by the manager, as hours may vary if the employee must fill in for team members should an emergency arise. This position requires the ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level. This includes but is not limited to twisting, lifting of products and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and writ motion. This position requires the ability to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
