Clinical Laboratory Specialist I
Full Time; 12 Hour Night Shift; Fri / Sat / Sun
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing a variety of laboratory tests and functions, not restricted to, but including: data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, working knowledge of theory involved in testing and troubleshooting as needed. Directly responsible to the lab supervisor. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory medical director and laboratory supervisor which includes high complexity tests that require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's documented education, training and experience.
Job Requirements:
Must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. An associate degree in a laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or
2. Have a least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at minimum, included either -
a. 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
b. 24 semester hours of science courses that include -
6 semester hours of chemistry
6 semester hours of biology
12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination; and
c. Have laboratory training that includes at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed; or
d. Other qualitifications as outlined in CLIA regulations 493.1489.
Physical Requirements:
1. Occasional lifting of objects weighing approximately 40 lbs.
2. Working extended hour shifts.
3. Standing or walking for at least 50% of shift.
4. Possible eye strain due to long hours of computer work.
Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and experiments under the guidance of senior researchers
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support research projects
- Prepare samples for analysis using various techniques, including histology
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory procedures and results
- Adhere to strict quality control measures and ensure compliance with FDA regulations
- Assist in the development and implementation of research protocols
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize laboratory processes
- Keep abreast of advancements in laboratory techniques and scientific research
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of scientific research methodologies and laboratory procedures
- Familiarity with FDA regulations and CGMP standards
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to accurately analyze and interpret data
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and present findings
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
