Job description:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for coordination of inbound international shipments as well as the fulfillment of customer orders from the main warehouse in Charlotte, NC and directing out of state 3PL fulfillment locations. This includes selecting cost and time effective methods of carriage, completing required shipping documentation, and resolving customer issues related to the shipping process.
The Logistics Manager must be able to work independently, is very well organized, and makes use of electronic systems to manage all activities. They should have a minimum 3-5 years experience in a warehouse / distribution / logistics environment and be familiar with industry standards.

Coordination of international shipments (Ocean and air) with our freight forwarders

Direct communication with our international suppliers to get copies of their invoices, packing lists and bills of lading.

Updating our MRP with inbound quantity information, as well as due date and supplier invoice number or UPS/FedEx/DHL tracking number

Working with freight forwarders to establish a consolidation policy to reduce shipping costs

Create packing lists and send all accompanying documentation to customer (inspection reports, material certs, packing list, and bill of lading) along with tracking information.

Organize customer specific shipping instructions and verify order accuracy prior to shipment

Ensure we have accurate HTS codes for all products

Transfer inventory between locations in the computerized inventory system

Receive drop shipped parts (received by suppliers / etc.) in system to allow for payment

Coordinate pickups / deliveries with freight carriers

Periodically evaluate freight carriers for lowest cost via online quote tools or bid process

Ongoing continuous improvement projects in all warehouse locations

Respond to customer questions related to location of goods in transit and proof of delivery

Work experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics company

Very detail oriented, used to reviewing documents with exacting requirements

Strong logistics carrier management experience and skills

Knowledge of supplier negotiation and business processes and tools

Ability to think analytically and work independently, anticipates changing business, project and supplier needs

Ability to propose and work structured solutions.

Ability to influence others and build effective working relationships both internally and externally at various organizational levels
