Position Title : Infant and Toddler Teacher
Position Summary :Under the direct supervision of the Site Manager, and functions as a member of the teaching team must be able to lift up to 40lbs, repetitively bend and stoop, sit at child’s eye level and participate in all early childhood daily work activities. Responsible for the education and general development of children in a Head Start center.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning and implementing daily classroom activities, including room setup, nap and activity preparation.
- Implementation of the Creative Curriculum –Infant & Toddler.
- Documents all feedings, toileting, and transition activities.
- Provides parents with daily child activity log
- Conducts learning activities such as storytelling, singing, arts and crafts.
- Helps children to use small manipulative.
- Encourages children to return toys, equipment to proper storage space.
- Share supervision responsibility of all children during activities during free play, indoors and outdoors.
- Share supervision and safety responsibility of children on field trips and outings.
- Supervises children during rest periods.
- Shares responsibility for clean-up after daily classroom activities.
- Prepares and distributes classroom materials.
- Recruits children for program.
- Participates in in-service and pre-service training.
- Attend required funding sources trainings.
- Input of data to TS Gold complete screenings, home visits and parent & teacher conferences.
- Daily required documentations: daily attendance, meal sheets, observations, health screenings and classroom cleaning log. Weekly lesson plans.
- Complete required 15 hours of trainings.
- Keep a current Gateways membership number and attend 20 hours of training annually.
- TS Gold –input, classroom reports, record meaningful observations, and select preliminary marking, finalize checkpoints and complete screenings.
- Provide home visits, parent and teacher conferences document to Site manager.
- Weekly create TSGold lesson plans. – Shared and collaborative responsibility
- Provide assistance to Site Manager as requested if assigned as the Next in Charge
Qualifications :
- Gateway To Opportunity Infant and Toddler level 2 is required.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with 15 credit hours in Infant & Toddler or a minimum of an Associate Degree in any field with at least 15 Early Childhood Education semester creditor hours and 15 credit hours in Infant & Toddler
- A minimum of a CDA in Infant and Toddler (child development associate credential), and have been trained (or have equivalent coursework) in early childhood development.
