Since 1961, The Association for Individual Development (AID) has served individuals with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk. We are looking for a Fundraising Events Specialist who exemplifies that mission, and who wants to work for an organization that makes a difference.
The Development Associate will support efforts to raise awareness of AID, engage supporters, and fundraise for the agency. The Development Associate will play a key role in promoting AID programs and services, communicating organizational updates, and promoting upcoming events across the entire agency service area. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in social media, and the ability to collaborate with community leaders. The Development Associate is a member of the Resource Development Team that collaborates on AID fundraising, advocacy, community engagement, and marketing. While the Development Associate will be primarily focused on marketing and advocacy, the Resource Development Team provides the opportunity to collaborate on overall team goals in a fun and positive team environment.
Schedule: Full-time position 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some evenings/weekends required

What will you be doing?
· Publish a minimum of five social media posts per week
· Publish press releases for pertinent AID events/agency updates and disperse to appropriate press outlets
· Maintain advocacy supplies/promotional products and assist in preparing these materials for advocacy events
· Visit various AID locations to photograph, film and chronicle internal AID program events for use in social media posts and printed material
· Assist with creating digital and printed marketing materials
· Assist with e-mail campaigns and updating website
· Create and order business cards for AID employees
· Demonstrate sensitivity to others’ values, beliefs and attitudes, i.e.; donors, fellow employees, clients and general public
· Establish relationships with various news outlets throughout AID service area
· Stay informed about emerging social media trends, best practices, and technologies
· Work with the Board of Directors Advocacy & Resource Development Committee to increase community engagement
· Collaborate with and provide support to Resource Development Team members as needed
Position Details:
· Reports to Marketing, Communication and Design Manager
What will you bring to the table?
· High school diploma or GED required
· Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in relevant discipline (Marketing, Communications, etc.) preferred
· Minimum of 1 year in marketing, public relations and media relations experience – preferably in a nonprofit organization
· Must see portfolio of previous work. For example: photographs, social media content, printed materials such as brochures or flyers, and/or published press releases
· Computer experience with proficiency of following software (required):
o Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
o Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
· Computer experience with proficiency of following software (preferred):
o Raiser’s Edge or equivalent fundraising software
o Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, Lightroom, Acrobat)
o Constant Contact (or similar e-mail campaign program)
o Hootsuite
· Digital camera or smart phone camera (Photography & Videography)
What are the other requirements?
· Must attend all fundraising events, some evenings and weekends required
· Position requires use of employee’s personal automobile, mileage reimbursed at IRS rate. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and minimum amount of auto liability insurance as defined in the AID personnel policies.
· Position requires use of employee’s personal cell phone, monthly stipend provided for use
· Ability to envision and execute major projects; work on multiple projects simultaneously
· Be self-motivated, able to work independently while being a team player
· Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills, and professional demeanor
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
· Excellent time management skills and follow through
· Positive and enthusiastic attitude and a sensitivity to the needs of AID clients
· Flexibility to work/attend meetings and events in evenings and on weekends
· Physical: Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds; assist with set up and break down for various events.
