LICENSED PRACTIONER OF THE HEALING ARTS (LPHA)
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, with guidance from the Medical Director the LPHA is responsible for monitoring clients as they take their medications to ensure the client adheres to their prescription and writing determination diagnosis. The goal of the LPHA is to reduce symptoms, improve daily functioning and emotional well-being.
Essential Job Functions:
- Flexibility and desire to learn the drug Medical Organized Delivery System operations for residential treatment programs
- Responsible for management of client medications, including psychotropic medications and controlled substances. This to include documentation, secure storage, medication monitoring, auditing, counting and destruction according to policy. Acts as a liaison with staff; monitors and communicates client compliance with regard to medications
- Establish appropriate goals and objectives that are client centered
- Uses active listening and discussion skills to identify issues, ensure understanding and facilitate problem solving; works cooperatively with diverse groups; deals with others in a pleasant and professional manner; and accurately assess verbal and non-verbal cues, also has a high dress of self-awareness and self-regulation
- Establishes rapport easily with others; uses good judgment when sharing information and maintaining confidentiality; appropriately expresses empathy\skilled computer-based work tasks, uses technology to enhance job performance including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Case conference with Medical Director and communicate the needs of the clients of the facility to the Medical Director
- Well acquainted with various medical emergencies, provide counseling, health and sanitation education.
- Help maintain a chart for clients in order to have accurate records of clients’ medical history, treatment plan and progress
- Assess all client’s intake applications, formulate own written assessments and create ASAM diagnosis, determination notes, level of care
- Attend all management, treatment team and staff meetings, training and other required agency functions
- Support client in obtaining medications as needed
- Model professionalism and appropriate demeanor
- Perform other duties when required or assigned by Executive Director
- Maintain confidential information
- Carry a caseload
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in related field
- Master degree (MFT or AMFT)
- Experience in Human Services related to substance abuse, mental health and criminal justice issues.
- Knowledge of ASAM (American Society Addiction Medicine)/DSM-5 Assessment/ASI
- Experience working with residential, correctional substance abuse treatment facility
- Ability to train, supervise; coordinate and evaluate staff
- General knowledge of physiological aspects of substance abuse, criminology and mental health
- Must be trained on ASAM A, B, & C.
Special Requirements:
- Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor or Registered Alcohol Drug Technician (Optional)
- Valid California Driver’s License

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
