Purpose of Position: Responsible for the overall management of the Driver Department, which includes supervising departmental staff and ensuring the Company trucks and drivers comply with Company policies and DOT guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee in the job title:
- Schedule drivers and determine number of trucks for customer deliveries
- Review and approve credit card statements and expense reports for truck drivers
- Lease and purchase Company trucks
- Road test trucks
- Conduct safety meetings
- Develop and monitor the department’s annual expense budget
- Implement cost effective and time saving methods; inform and encourage employee involvement in the improvement process
- Establish operational goals for department to maximize team performance
- Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies
- Evaluate staff for continual professional growth\
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years supervisory experience
- Five years shipping experience
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Familiar with Interstate systems of North Carolina, Georgia, and other states
- Effective problem solving ability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize duties
- Ability to travel up to 15%

Pay: $71,764.00 - $74,999.00 per year
