In collaboration with the Executive Director of Ancillary & Surgical Services and other appropriate OMC leaders, the Surgical Services Manager oversees the daily operations of the Osceola Medical Center Surgical Services Department, including Sterile Processing.

Qualifications
-
Degree in nursing, required. Advanced degree, preferred.

Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or ability to acquire, required.
-
Current Basic Life Support certification or ability to acquire, required.
-
Current Certified Nurse, Operating Room, preferred.
-
Member in good standing in any of the following: AORN, ASPAN, SGNA or AIMEE, preferred.

Minimum of five years of perioperative services experience, required.

Minimum of two years of management or specialty team leader experience, preferred.
Responsibilities Include:

Providing overall direction and management of daily operations of the Surgical Services Department that provides for the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient care in the OMC Surgical Department.

Hiring, setting performance expectations and management of staff.
-
Supporting the development and implementation of department workflows that align with the overall mission and strategy of the organization, resulting in innovative, best practices that will service the full range of OMC’s patient needs and contributes to a high-performing culture of success, accountability, transparency and collaboration.

Monitoring patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement.

Recruiting and retaining Surgical staff and development of staff onboarding and annual competency plans.

Collaborating with Surgeons to ensure safe and competent care for patients.

Supporting the implementation of department policies and procedures that effectively support the OMC's mission and strategic vision include patient centered care and organizational efficiency.

Developing department specific plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.

Ensuring the accomplishment of OMC’s mission by ensuring that surgical practice is standardized and consistent with professional nursing practice standards, applicable legal statutes and state regulations addressing nursing practice and the delivery of health care that provides congruent standards across the organization.

Developing department specific strategic key performance indicators (KPIs) and assists in the implementation of plans to meet the KPIs.

Developing, analyzing, and monitoring department budget, volumes, and FTEs.
