Materials Manager
Optex Systems located in Richardson, Texas, is currently seeking a Materials Manager.

What You Will Do
The Materials Manager is a leadership position that involves oversight of the operational purchasing, planning, scheduling and warehousing. This role requires leadership experience and an ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders in the business, while leveraging these relationships to achieve organizational goals. An ability to work across functional departments and represent the interests of these groups is critical. Develop vision and goals across departments in Materials
- Develop strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Develop future leaders within the Materials team
- Communicate key materials updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization including Leadership
- Negotiate key supplier agreements and issue resolution with suppliers as needed
- Ability to effectively deliver a message to a diverse audience
- Facilitate cohesiveness amongst roles within Materials
- Ensure development of top performers and foster high team engagement
- Manage, develop, and implement strategies and goals for assigned departments objectives
- Mitigate risk, improve processes/systems, and reduce overall cost of ownership
- May include managing exempt and/or non-exempt employees
What You Need
- 10+ years of Industry experience (DoD) and manufacturing
- Expert knowledge/experience as a Master Scheduler
- Demonstrated leadership experience required
- Supplier Management experience
- Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation & conflict resolution skills
- Strong, working knowledge and application of supplier contract terms and processes
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction

- Strong ability to build relationships across multiple functions and levels both internally and externally
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong ability to present information to small and large audiences
- Demonstrated detail orientation and results orientation
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Familiarity with !TAR regulations, or the ability to quickly learn the requirements
- Familiarity with U.S. government export tools (e.g., ACE Secure Data Portal)
Specific Duties
- Manage the factory build plan / company revenue plan through a master production schedule process
o Conduct weekly production meetings to review progress against plan
- Report to upper management items of particular concern as related to financial performance and/or customer dissatisfaction (e.g., foreseen revenue misses, customer OTO concerns, etc.)
- Oversee the planning process, and Master Scheduling providing support to staff as required to assure on time delivery without excess inventory investment
- Manage supplier performance process
o Develop staff and/or processes to continuously improve and make more efficient the process of performance monitoring/communication
- Manage the warehouse processes to assure optimal performance as related to inventory management and product shipments
o Oversee the cycle count process to assure timely completion of weekly counts
- Investigate any variances that warrant concern
o Manage the ABC analysis process in Ml on an annual basis
- Support the warehouse staff as needed in matters of logistics decision making
- Oversee the export compliance process through support of the Shipping Administrator
Monitor export compliance reports sent out by the U.S. Census Bureau
- Other duties, as deemed necessary
