GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary:
Coordinates the provision of trauma care throughout the entire continuum of injury related services; including but not limited to, physician oversight, nursing and ancillary support services, data processing, and internal/external communications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Maintain Trauma Registry data entry to within two months of patient discharge.
2. Accountable for timely data submission for ACS site survey, National Trauma Data Bank, and state trauma registry.
3. Recognizes quality care issues during chart review and trauma patient rounds. Follows established trauma performance improvement process and reports findings promptly to the Trauma Coordinator, Trauma Specialist and/or Trauma Program Manager.
4. Works independent of and collaboratively with intra-hospital departments in attaining and completing all required data entry within the trauma registry. Assists with trauma rounds, keeps coordinator and program manager well informed of work status and progress.
5. Assists Trauma Program Manager in provision of excellent trauma patient outcomes.
6. Responsible for trauma office coverage in the absence of the Trauma Program Manager/Trauma Specialist; serve as a resource person for staff, patients, families and physicians. Assists staff in trauma activations during work hours and functions as a scribe as needed.
7. Promotes positive relationships with community, state and regional colleagues by participation in hospital and State trauma committee meetings and participation in community Injury Prevention events.
8. Maintains professional certifications and continued self-development/education in the arena of trauma care.
9. Assists in preparing charts for ACS review and is available during site survey process.
10. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
Education Nursing Diploma

- Credential Registered Nurse
Certification related to the position, if applicable.
Basic Life Support
Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One year clinical emergency and/or trauma care experience to include a background in healthcare delivery process with data entry. Preferred: Knowledge and understanding of ICD-10 injury and procedure coding.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
