JOB SUMMARY:
The ESD Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care activities in the Emergency Services Department. This position carries out physician orders within guidelines of prudent nursing practices, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Facilitates the development of standards of care for the patient population.
- Performs triage screening with all patients presenting to the Emergency Department to determine the order in which patients are seen.
- Performs an assessment of each emergency patient including an interview of the patient and/or significant other.
- Documents accurately and legibly on the ESD medical record.
- Carries out physician’s orders in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Communicates effectively with physicians and fellow employees to ensure the best care for the patient.
- Notifies ancillary department of orders in a timely fashion as well as various other services as appropriate.
- Performs and accepts various other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current licensure by State Board of Nursing.
2. CPR and ACLS required, PALS preferred.
3. Emergency nursing experience preferred, BSN preferred
