Reports to Optical Manager
Responsibilities –
- Fitting, dispensing, and repairing eyeglasses
- Accurate documentation of Optical orders/sales for eyeglasses and accessories
- Order ophthalmic frames and sunglasses
- Order and dispense contact lenses within legal guidelines
- Assist with I&R’s as needed
- Maintain sufficient levels of accessories and order as needed in the most cost-effective manner
- Order and maintain miscellaneous optical supplies (ex. screws, nose pads, Kim-wipes, etc.)
- Receive eyeglass orders, mount lenses in frames, verify Rx for accuracy, enter invoice number, cost, arrival date, and Optician’s initials in Compulink
- Maintain and count frame boards daily
- Assist patients having any issues with glasses or contact lenses, always following Optical protocols and procedures
- Notify patient that glasses are ready for pick-up and note as spoke to patient or left recorded message
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls, check voicemails from patients, and return patient calls before lunch and before the end of the day.
- Travel to satellite offices as needed
- Submit Optician’s production report and Optician’s sales log totals to the Optical Manager by noon on the first day of the month
- Communicate with Optical Manager any ideas that will improve patient care, products/services offered, or the operations in the Optical department
- Conduct complete product inventory every six months to coincide with mid and end-of-year
- Maintain good buying relationships with sales representatives by meeting with them on an eight to ten-week rotation
- Return frame and frame parts to vendors for credit
- Schedule exam/recheck refraction appointments
- All other duties assigned by the Optical Manager
