In Home Therapy (IHT) Therapeutic Training and Support Specialist (TT&S)
Behavioral Health Full-time, Non-Exempt

"Therapeutic Training and Support is a service provided by a qualified paraprofessional working under the supervision of a clinician to support implementation of the licensed clinician's treatment plan to assist the youth and family in achieving the goals of that plan. The paraprofessional assists the clinician in implementing the therapeutic objectives of the treatment plan designed to address the youth's mental health, behavioral, and emotional needs. This service includes teaching the youth to understand, direct, interpret, manage, and control feelings and emotional responses to situations and to assist the family to address the youth's emotional and mental health needs. Phone contact and consultation are provided as part of the intervention" (IHT performance specifications revised 2/2016).
Work in collaboration with a Master's Level clinician to provide intensive strength-based family therapy and behavioral intervention and assist the Master's level clinician in meeting the Performance Specifications for In Home Therapy in bold type below:
- Complete a comprehensive home-based, behavioral health assessment inclusive of the age-appropriate version of the Massachusetts CANS that occurs in the youth's home or another location of the family's choice. (TT &S will assist with information gathering, cultural consultation, and language support. Master's Level Clinician will complete.)
- Development of a youth- and family-centered treatment plan in collaboration with the youth, parent(s)/guardian(s)/caregiver(s), and with required consent, in consultation with other providers. (TT &S will assist with information gathering, cultural consultation and language support. Master's Level Clinician will complete.)
- Review and modification of the treatment plan as necessary. (Master's Level Clinician will complete in consultation and collaboration with TT&5).
- Review/update or development of a Safety Plan and/or other Crisis Planning Tools (Safety Plan, Advance Communication to Treatment Providers, Supplements to Advance Communication and Safety Plan, Companion Guide for Providers on the Crisis Planning Tools for Families) in collaboration with the youth and parent/guardian/caregiver. (Master's Level Clinician will complete in consultation with TT&5).
- Intensive Family Therapy that may include working with the entire family, or a subset of the family, to implement focused, structural, strategic, or behavioral techniques, or evidence-based interventions to enhance problem-solving, limit-setting, risk management/safety planning, communication, skill-building to strengthen the family, and to advance therapeutic goals or improve ineffective patterns of interaction. (collaborate with Master's Level Clinician to identify specific activities to carry out treatment plan).
- Identification of community resources and development of natural supports for youth and parent(s)/caregiver(s) to support and sustain achievement of the youth's treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Phone and face-to-face coordination with collateral providers, state agencies, ESP/Mobile Crisis Intervention, and other individuals or entities that may impact the youth's treatment plan, subject to required consent.
- Referral and linkage to appropriate services along the continuum of care.
- Coaching in support of decision-making in both crisis and non-crisis situations
- Skills training for youth and parent(s)/caregiver(s)
- Monitoring progress on attainment of treatment plan goals and objectives. *
- Compile and maintain timely, up-to-date, and accurate client records and progress notes according to JFS policies and procedures.
- Meet agency productivity requirements.
- Complete and submit all weekly billing documents, following agency protocols, in a timely manner.
- Attend weekly Individual or group supervision sessions with In Home Therapy clinical supervisors.
- Understand and practice agency mission, values, and policies.
- Be available for client emergencies (including after hours and on weekends)
- Maintain good relations within the community and other agencies.
- Cooperate and collaborate with other social service agencies that may work with clients and families.
- Perform all responsibilities within the framework of JFS's mission and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform translation and interpretation services for clients as needed.

- Bachelor's or Associate degree with related experience in human services, education, social work or health care
- Experience providing services to refugee and/or immigrant populations.
- Ability to work in an ethnically diverse work environment.
- Capacity to deal with unpredictable situations and concerns.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Must function well as part of a team.
- Valid Massachusetts's driver's license
