The prestigious New York Athletic Club, one of the world's premier private clubs, founded in 1868 with facilities in Central Park South in Manhattan and Pelham Manor, NY, is seeking a regular full-time Director of Security. We are currently seeking a seasoned Director of Security to oversee and enhance the safety and security of our esteemed members and guests. The Director of Security will be responsible for ensuring constant guidance of the Security Department operations on a daily basis, which includes, supervise union staff, prepare weekly payroll, scheduling, training, review and implementation of club policies, and also be responsible for the safety and security of all our members, guests, employees, and protection of company assets. The Director of Security will report to the General Manager and the chairperson of the Security and Safety Committee.
Security Strategy and Planning:
- Develop, implement, and continuously update a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the club's overall safety goals.
- Conduct risk assessments and formulate mitigation plans.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing security team, ensuring they are equipped to handle various security challenges.
- Schedule and coordinate security personnel to cover all shifts and events.
Surveillance and Access Control:
- Oversee the installation and operation of CCTV systems and access control measures to monitor and secure club premises.
- Conduct regular security sweeps and checks to identify vulnerabilities.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
- Develop and implement emergency response protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of all occupants in the event of a crisis.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
Compliance and Legal Requirements:
- Stay up-to-date with all relevant security and safety regulations, ensuring the club's compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Maintain required licenses and certifications for the operation of security personnel.
Training and Development:
- Conduct regular training sessions for security personnel on various topics, including emergency response, conflict resolution, and customer service.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the security team.
Risk Management and Incident Reporting:
- Monitor and assess security risks and incidents, and provide timely reports to senior management.
- Implement corrective actions and preventative measures based on incident findings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in security management, preferably in a private club or 5-star hotel setting.
- Valid security certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and any required state or local security licenses.
- Proven experience in emergency response and crisis management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
