Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their own home, one on one.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support individuals in their home or community settings
- Promote independence and encourage participation in social and recreational activities
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals under your care
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity and privacy are respected
- Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if necessary
- Assist with medications as needed according to prescribed instructions
- Monitor health and physical condition and report any changes or concerns to appropriate medical personnel
- Provide first aid as needed; support with specific skill development they need
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in social work or related field is a plus
-At least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required; CNA, PCA, Aides with this type of experience are welcome
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and auto insurance is required for transporting individuals to appointments and community activities
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written/typed for support notes
- Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and first aid procedures is preferred
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and intervening if aggressive behavior were to occur
- Must be able to pass criminal background/central registry checks
-Completion and maintenance of CPR/First Aid/TB testing/Behavior Management/company training is required for continued employment
