Overview
Sealevel Systems, Inc is a mature communications hardware manufacturer, providing serial and digital communications solutions across a wide array of computing platforms to customers since 1986. To complement the growth the company is experiencing, we are looking for an Engineering Technician.
This role requires a detailed and organized individual capable of using principles and theories of engineering to solve technical problems in research and development and manufacturing. The Engineering Technician will focus on the application-oriented functions of our products by assisting the Engineers through conducting testing, inspecting products or processes, collecting data, and calculating and reporting results. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively within the production and engineering departments and must work with great detail and a sense of urgency.
Reporting Relationship
The position will report to the Director of Engineering.

- Base Salary – commensurate with experience
Competencies
The candidate we are seeking must:
- Be organized and detail oriented
- Have experience in building circuit boards
- Have experience in circuit board repairs
- Have soldering knowledge and experience (board level SMT and through-hole components)
- Be comfortable and able to operate in a dynamic environment
- Be competing in basic Microsoft tools like Excel, Work, Power Point.
- Be able to react to changes and handle requests from different sources (multi-task)
- Have demonstrated experience with product prototyping
- Be well versed in the scientific method
- Be competent at reading electrical schematics
- Be able to create simple board schematics
- Be capable of performing simple to complex mechanical fabrications and modifications for prototypes.

- Have experience with schematic capture and layout software Altium Designer
- Have familiarity with PCI, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485 and common digital I/O
Objectives & Responsibilities
The role of the Engineering Technician is primarily to provide support for the Engineering staff. The successful Engineering Technician will look for ways to offload the Engineering staff whenever possible. The primary objectives of the Engineering Technician are to:
- Assist Engineers in design, development, testing and manufacturing of Sealevel products
- Prepare and conduct experiments, collect data, calculate or record results for engineering and product research
- Perform engineering analysis of new third-party products
- Assist engineers with environmental analysis and testing of new products
- Create reports of analysis and experiments work
- Build prototypes and perform engineering modifications to Sealevel products
- Work in product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic and electrical equipment
- Perform hardware repairs as required
- Create mechanical prototypes and modifications as required
- Assist Engineers in the maintenance of product BOMs
- Component cross research
- BOM data entry
- BOM database management
Previous Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in circuit assembly in a manufacturing type environment. Additionally, they should possess:
- Associates Degree in Engineering Technology
- 1-2 years fine pitch circuit board component soldering
- Competence with mechanical fabrication equipment
- Experience with schematic capture and board layout
