Description:SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Specialist will report to the Quality Control Manager and be responsible for assisting in the development of remanufacturing/quality and service documentation as well as investigating warranty issues, preparing for audits, overseeing remanufacturing facilities, vendor assurance and attending safety/specialty services/management meetings.
The first several months, this position will be heavily involved on the shop floor, learning the different components and understanding processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- As safety is RENEW’s top priority, you will be required to participate in safety training as it applies to your job-related duties.
- Responsible for assisting in building quality programs in our remanufacturing facilities.
- Verify remanufacturing/quality and service documents and practices.
- Create and store engineering reports, files, specifications, and databases.
- Emphasis on drive-train reliability and QC.
- Investigate customer warranty complaints.
- Meet ISO standards, report QA summaries, recordkeeping.
- Work with customer’s quality requirements and communicate to all RENEW employees affected by these requirements.
- Generate, recommend and implement procedures and systems for the efficient control of quality.
- Participate in technical reviews to ensure compliance to specifications.
- Use proper problem-solving techniques to ensure immediate action of poor quality.
- Open communication with supervisor and other RENEW employees. Ensure that adequate gauging and inspection instructions are provided to team.
- Work with RENEW’s safety department to develop and prepare all quality training programs.
- Work with RENEW’s engineering department in engineering projects as needed.
- Responsible for process control plans.
- Implement and facilitate Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Manage, schedule and participate in the internal and external audit and inspections process.
- Ensure all tooling is within calibration and not damaged.
- Performing Non-Destructive Testing as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCIES:
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:
- Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree.
- 0-2 years of engineering experience.
- Experience in quality, project management or program management with knowledge of remanufacturing equipment and principles.
- Knowledge of gearbox design a plus.
- Knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
- Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to work well in a team.
- Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement of the business operations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.
Specific physical requirements include:
- Ability to climb ladders up to heights of 300 plus feet and work in restricted spaces with diverse environmental conditions.
- Must not exceed 280 lbs. without gear on for safety of employee.
- Ability to lift 80 pounds.
- 25% Travel.
