Rogers Group is currently seeking a Plant Manager for one of our sand mining operations located in Butler, GA. The position reports to the Area Production Manager. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence, be a self-starter and will have responsibilities that include but not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Supervision of employees related to the muck processing, haul and plant processing in a sand surface operation.
- Overseeing proper implementation of safety procedures.
- Assist Area Production Manager with managing P&L through controlling costs to meet budgets and reduce costs to achieve savings.
- Identify deficiencies and implement a plan for continuous improvement.
- Effectively manage staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and providing development through training.
- Ensure compliance with all Company and Government policies and regulations.
- Assist in mine and pit planning.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure processes for quality product production and collaborate with area QC department.
- Actively reaching out and being involved in the local community.
- Responsibility for managing both rolling stock and fixed plant preventive maintenance and repairs by providing cost improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, geological engineering or industry related equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of profit and loss statements and basic accounting principles is a plus.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to develop leadership skills at the lead person and or foreman levels.
- Demonstrated ability in identifying, communicating and implementing best operating practices, including quality, maintenance, production and safety excellence.
- Proven safety record and excellent compliance in MSHA safety standards for both Part 46 & 48.
- Possess strong basic math knowledge.
- Basic surveying and mapping skills are a plus.
- Working knowledge of environmental policies, standards and best practices.
- Working knowledge of AggQC and AggFlow is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel and Office is a plus.
