o Answers 911 lines; acquires pertinent information; dispatches the necessary agency and personnel.
o Operates Computer Aided Dispatch system to monitor and track law enforcement, ire, EMS, and rescue units on service calls.
o Operates computerized radio console and phone system; monitors, maintains, and activates siren signaling device as appropriate.
o Answers non-emergency telephone lines and assists callers; transfers calls to appropriate personnel.
o Operates TTY equipment to handle E911 and non-emergency calls for the deaf and hearing impaired.
o Enters, modifies, or clears NCIC entries as needed; enters and modifies protection orders and warrants; performs criminal history checks.
o Enters, modifies, and tracks residential security checks.
o Checks for wants and warrants as requested by officers.
o Notifies appropriate agencies and personnel of water outages, power outages, sewer lift station alarms, street closings, funeral arrangements, and railroad crossing failures.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
o Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
o Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one or two years.
o Possession of or ability to readily obtain DCI/NCIC certification.
o Valid North Carolina Driver's License
