CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR
Industrial Sewing
City Colleges of Chicago's Continuing Education Department is seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Sewing professional to join our continuing education department as a part-time instructor for our upcoming training program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive course that equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the field of industrial sewing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lectures and practical exercises covering various aspects of industrial sewing, including machine operation, fabric handling, pattern reading, and quality control.
- Provide hands-on training using industry-standard sewing machines and tools to ensure participants gain practical experience.
- Assess participants' progress through assignments, projects, and practical demonstrations, providing constructive feedback and support as needed.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to workplace safety procedures and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Continuing Education Department to ensure the program meets industry standards and participant expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial sewing or a closely related role.
- Proven expertise in operating various types of industrial sewing machines, fabric handling, pattern interpretation, and quality control.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and regulations related to industrial sewing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to a diverse group of learners.
- Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications relevant to industrial sewing.
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional design
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
