In this role, the Mid Level Practitioner assumes responsibility for a group of specific functions as defined in the policies and procedures and individual performance standards.
The Mid Level Practitioner positions include: Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care Management
I. Patient Care Process
Promotes the stages of the patient care process, including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation through mentoring and Standards development.

- Demonstrates ability to locate items related to physical environment, safety and patient care rooms as identified in the orientation tool.

NURSE PRACTITIONER
- Current/valid California state licensure to practice as an RN
- Masters of Nursing preferred
- Current California Nurse Practitioner or equivalent license
- BRN furnishing number
- Current AHA BCLS certification for health care provider or equivalent as described in the performance standards
- Appropriate practice/experience
- Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools
- Auditory acuity to hear patient verbal communication and gather data using auscultory skills
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, calculators and various other related equipment
- Physical strength necessary to perform lifting, pushing, pulling (40-50 lbs.), sitting, walking/ standing (6-8 hours), twisting, squatting, turning, reaching and stretching maneuvers in performing duties
- Keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision making skills in the management of acutely ill patients
- Effective communication skills including speaking, enunciating, and writing. Able to receive and give information in person, by telephone and in writing
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with a high stress level associated with the clinic environment and fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, and emotional demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, external customers, and other health care workers

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS (PA)
Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program
Current/valid California State license to practice as a PA
Current AHA BCLS certification for health care provider as described in the performance standards

Completion of credentialing process through the medical staff office
Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools
Auditory acuity to hear patient verbal communication and gather data using auscultory skills
Manual dexterity to operate computers, calculators and various other related equipment
