Kirk Eye Center has a great opportunity for someone who thrives providing excellent customer service. This position will be the first point of contact in the patient experience at the clinic. You will greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, prepare daily charts for use by our Physicians and clinical staff, and collect patient payments all with a smile. You will be responsible for all patient information accuracy including insurance verification. You will assist in patient billing. A successful candidate will be empathetic and be able to help patients understand their insurance, have strong computer skills, be able to multi task and promote our work culture of kindness, excellence and communication. Close attention to detail and a highly organized person required. Our staffs’ success is based on the ability to work as a team and support each other.

Insurance Specialist & Patient Service Representative responsibilities:
- Greet and check-out patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical service
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history and insurance information
- Collect co-pays and patient past due balances
- Assist with medical coding and billing processes
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Be able to multi task and promote our work culture of kindness, excellence and communication
- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team as needed
Insurance Specialist & Patient Service Representative experience:
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting required
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and managed care systems
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and ophthalmology office procedures is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records along with the ability to multitask
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in using office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
