Primary PartnerCare MSO is the management partner for the region's largest primary care medical group. We recently centralized medical records function for over 20 clinical sites, and are seeking a Health Information & Medical Records Specialist to manage the requests for medical records (insurance requests, internal audits, specialists, life insurance etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all requests for records are prioritized, responded to and followed-up on to resolution
- Assist in the protection of health information (PHI) relating to each patient including ensuring that protected health information is kept confidential and made available only to authorized personnel, including assuring compliance with federal HIPAA regulations and NYS Privacy laws
- Monitor adherence to the the Records Retention Policy and assist provider sites with destruction, or electronic archiving of records
- Audit electronic systems and provide reports for valid consents/releases of information within organizational systems under the guidance of the Chief Compliance Officer
- Follow up on electronic security related items as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer including ensuring the documentation and process for any privacy breach is followed through on to resolution.
- Assist in the review and updating of health information and privacy policies and procedures under the guidance of management and the Chief Compliance Officer on a yearly basis or as needed
- Attend meetings including HIT, Quality Improvement and Compliance meetings as designated
- Assist in developing and implementing processes that will allow the organization to fill medical records requests and issue consents electronically wherever possible.
- Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals
- Perform other duties, as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in the health care field
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems; Athena EMR a plus
- Knowledge and experience with HIPAA compliance
- Microsoft Office Suite proficient with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated organization skills with ability to prioritize competing demands

Pay: $22.00 - $26.75 per hour
