Joining You on Your Journey Therapy is a private practice that is currently providing individual and family therapy to people ages 13 and up in California. This practice serves clients who have been marginalized, misunderstood, and traumatized by transphobia, homophobia, toxic masculinity/femininity, mental health stigma, ableism, religion, and racism. Ideal clients are those seeking gender affirming therapy (including transition referral letters), needing to process trauma (via EMDR), and/or who experience dissociation (to any degree, including working with dissociative parts and systems/plural folks).

Joining You on Your Journey Therapy is a process-oriented, relational, and emotionally focused practice. We strive to create a community of like-minded professionals who are invested in each other’s growth as individuals and professionals.
We are looking for a pre-licensed APCC, ASW, and/or AMFT clinician with a passion for serving traditionally underserved populations. The clinician will maintain a caseload of 20 clinical hours a week on average. Joining You on Your Journey Therapy’s leadership will take care of the business-related tasks while the clinician focuses their time and energy on the care of their clients. Supervision will be provided as a benefit.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build a caseload via marketing and networking
- See an average of 20 client hours a week (flexible based on accessibility/needs for accommodations/avoidance or management of burnout)
- Respond to messages within 24-48 hours during business hours
- Coordinate care with other providers as necessary
- Timely documentation within 48 hours; maintain client files that are accurate and up to date
- Attend weekly individual supervision and other meetings and/or supervision as required
- Maintain licensure and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics
Required Qualifications
- Align with the values of the practice
- Active APCC, AMFT, or ASW registration in the State of California
- Specialize in treating trauma and other mental health disorders
- Demonstrate commitment toward social justice and anti-oppression
- Access to technology and privacy to provide online therapy
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Theoretical orientation that supports depth-oriented and relational work
- Value continued supervision and clinical consultation for feedback and opportunities to grow
- Committed to working in a group practice for the long term
- Must have completed Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or another related degree
- Must have Associate number
- Must be working towards licensure as LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW
- Must be queer-friendly and work from an anti-oppression approach
- Must be able to focus on private practice as your primary job to first fill up caseload and
- Must use trauma-informed lens for all clients
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have completed at least one year of experience (can be Master’s practicum) in the field of mental health counseling
- Experience working with minors age 13-18 in exploring their gender
- Experience working with dissociative systems
- Demonstrates a high comfort level in being honest and vulnerable in supervision
- Ideal candidates would be familiar with trans and nonbinary communities and the issues they face in society as well as the impact on their mental health; have at least a baseline understanding of dissociative disorders; and have an interest in learning about EMDR.
- Overarching multicultural and interpersonal process approach
- Motivated to learn about licensing process and to bring in hourly log sheets to be signed regularly in supervision
- Theoretical orientation including Humanistic/client-centered, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Arts, somatic approaches

Part Time until clients are acquired to become a Full-time position
Salary: $30-$60.00 per hour
