JOB SUMMARY This position assists in the management of a middle school office. This position provides a wide range of support services for student, parents, staff, and the public; promotes positive public relations for the school and the district. Assists office colleagues when applicable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved.

Greets parents, students, and visitors entering the office and provides assistance; answers telephone and responds to inquiries; screens telephone calls; receives and distributes mail to staff. May greet substitutes and provide instructional materials.

Maintain building Associated Student Body (A.S.B.) accounting records; may project annual A.S.B. budget; may receive, receipt, and verify moneys for school fund-raising activities such as yearbook sales, magazine drive, A.S.B. cards and dance receipts; may maintain A.S.B. checking account, deposit A.S.B. funds, write checks and vendor requisition orders; may assist in the management of the student store.

Provides secretarial support to administrator(s) and/or Duplicates and distributes materials. May format and produce correspondence, staff evaluations, forms, memoranda, and reports; may type and distribute staff bulletins and newsletters; may maintain district and building activity calendar.

Maintains confidential records and files for staff and students such as: staff emergency cards, student detentions, free and reduced lunch lists, Child Protective Service Reports, and staff evaluations; disburses district forms such as: insurance, travel, inservice, etc., to building staff. May collect student fines; may train and supervise student assistants.

Inputs student discipline information; generates reports; distributes notices to students, staff, and parents; maintains records.

Collates and distributes student athletic eligibility packets and maintains records for physical eligibility.

Assists staff in coordinating printing and copying May assist with ordering, distribution, and inventory of supplies and equipment; may train staff in the operation of various office machines; may trouble-shoot problems with office equipment and call for service as necessary; may oversee the printing of various forms.

Makes non-instructional, including emergency situations, decisions in the absence of administrator(s) and Middle School Office Manager; assists with special projects and events. May maintain student locker assignments and combinations; may be required to use building's two- way radio communication system; may assist in the health room when

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to principal or assistant principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in an office environment; frequent interruptions; exposure to visual display terminal; required to deal with distraught or angry parents and students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent with two or more years of office experience preferably involving bookkeeping skills; experience working with adolescents and the public; computer experience; school district work experience preferred.
Allowable Substitution
Training in office procedures or bookkeeping experience may substitute on a month-to-month basis for one year of the required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general office procedures; knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English usage; ability to operate office equipment; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to communicate effectively; ability to exercise independent judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure; ability to maintain confidential information; ability to interact with children in a warm, confident manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Ability to operate computers and learn specific software programs.
SALARY: Salary is based upon the current 2023-24 NEOPA Salary Schedule Salary (Level G); placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Non-Exempt. Please note: the 2023-24 salary schedule will be used for placement until the 2024-25 salary schedule is released.
WORK YEAR: 239 days per year, 8.0 hours per day

Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
