Position Title: Mechatronics Engineer

Position Summary:
We manufacture semiconductor substrate handling equipment. The Mechatronics Engineer will design and develop new products and carry out engineering change on existing products. Mechatronics Engineer will work closely with Sales and Customers to document customer requirements. Mechatronics Engineer will convert these requirements into specifications that can be acted on by Material Control and Manufacturing to build new products. Close communication with Japan parent company and local suppliers and/or China based subcontractors is required to understand components integrated into our products. Mechatronics Engineer also gives documentation and verbal support to Field Service to maintain products in the field.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Direction will generally come from the Director of Engineering and the Engineering Manager, and the Mechatronics Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Documenting customer requirements for new products in detail
- Scheduling projects and keeping projects on schedule
- Designing electronics for safe distribution of power to all components in a system
- Integrating automation software at a system and subcomponent level
- Modeling designs using Inventor CAD software
- Simulating designs using finite element analysis or other calculation for verification
- Organizing internal design reviews and customer design reviews
- Creating detailed manufacturing drawings, wiring diagrams, pneumatic diagrams and other for manufacturing products
- Debugging mechanical, electrical and software designs
- Generating test reports and design verification analysis
- Specifying components that will be used in our products
- Communicating large amounts of information with China, Japan, and locally based vendors, customers, and coworkers
- Other duties as assigned
Required Job Skills:
- Strong electrical engineering proficiency preferred
- Experience designing with relays, IO, circuit breakers, power supplies, and/ or micro-controllers
- Technical competence in mechanical and software engineering
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Maintain excellent rapport with customers, vendors, and co-workers
- Experience with 3D CAD software and software for wiring diagrams
- Ability to prioritize various duties and work within competing deadlines
- Ability to multi-task, stay focused and work efficiently and effectively with repeated interruptions and demands
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Flexibility to work long hours and/or weekends from time to time based on operational needs
Preferred Job Skills:
- Experience with Semiconductor Manufacturing and Semiconductor Capital Equipment
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor/Vault software to support Mechanical and Electrical designs
- Experience and success with simulation software for FEA analysis
- Familiarity with CE (Machinery Directive and EMC Directive) and SEMI standards for safety and performance
- Familiarity with C++, C#, and .NET Framework
- Familiarity with SECS/GEM and GEM 300 standards a definite plus
- Bilingual Chinese is a big plus
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering required
- Masters Degree preferable
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience (Salary Open)
