ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Companion performs tasks that enable the client to remain in the home by supplementing the client's abilities for home management and provides services that enhance the client’s quality of life. The Companion will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Florida’s Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the homemaker will not administer medications, take physician's orders or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a licensed nurse. The Companion will not be involved in providing any direct personal or health care to the client unless he/she also meets the specific qualifications of a paraprofessional as outlined in the policies and procedures.
Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Companion:
- Assists clients in non-personal, non-nursing self-care activities.
- Provides Concierge Companion services for seniors in the community. Concierge Companion services are non-skilled, non-nursing services that do not provide hands-on support.
- Shopping and errands
- Light housekeeping such as laundry, ironing, and dusting
- Home organization
- Pet care (dog walking, litterbox care)
- Transportation assistance
- Observes the client for changes in general physical and mental conditions. Reports any changes noted to the care coordinator or supervisor.
- Adheres to the documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:
- Is at least eighteen years of age.
- CPR Certification
- Has the ability to read and follow written instructions and document services provided and is able to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Has empathy and patience to support the needs of the senior population and understands the importance of providing excellent customer service.

Per-Diem/PRN (Weekend Availability Required)
Salary: $14.00 per hour
