FasterCures is focused on cutting through the roadblocks that slow medical progress in order to speed up and improve the medical research system.
About the Position
The Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the mission of FasterCures by serving as a research analyst on core programmatic work. These topics are generally related to accelerating biomedical research to enhance patients’ chances of receiving life-saving cures, and may fall broadly within the fields of public health, health policy, global health, and patient engagement and advocacy.
This position requires an ability to conduct and synthesize research, assist in the drafting of issue briefs and white papers, and support project management activities focused on FasterCures’ priorities. The Associate works with internal staff to help bring FasterCures programs to targeted external audiences and build communities around our areas of focus to move from ideas to implementation. The Associate will support programmatic activities through providing a variety of logistical and coordination duties and should have a strong attention to detail and be highly organized. This position will provide support on a variety of projects including projects included on our non-profit capability building program which including TRAIN and LeadersLink.
Responsibilities

Supports senior staff and the team in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research on key topics within FasterCures’ core programmatic areas.

Synthesizes and analyzes reports, presentations, publications, and other materials to assess trends and track progress in biomedical R&D.

Develops initial drafts of publications and presentations for both internal and external audiences.

Helps create high-quality deliverables with a patient-centric perspective, while also considering perspectives and challenges relative to other stakeholders (i.e. pharma, government, payers, etc.)

Assists with events that engage key external thought leaders, including identification of potential attendees and presenters, outreach, and development of content in support of the event.

Aids in in identifying, researching, and cultivating strategic relationships and prospective supporters/funders.

Develops ideas and supports relationship building for potential outreach, programming, and convenings.

Supports communications staff in the framing of publication for FasterCures’ audiences.

Provides administrative support to the team and its activities.

Adheres to the Institute’s mission, policies, and general safety practices, including any unique safety practices for the department and/or building.

Experience & Training

Bachelor’s degree required, a Master’s degree is preferred

High competence with technology and/ or highly experienced with the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Office 365)

Familiarity with biomedical research topics or have an interest in learning more about those topics
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
This position will work in a professional office environment. This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.

This position will work a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week reporting in-person to your respective office location (Tuesday – Thursday), with the remaining two (2) days working remotely. Please understand, this schedule is subject to change in the Institute’s sole discretion.
