We are seeking a Perioperative Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our pain management ambulatory surgery center with two procedure rooms. A qualified nurse to assist Pain Management physician during special procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to work in thePre-0p/PACU and Procedure room. Must be flexible with hours.
Ambulatory Surgery experience is a plus.
General Job Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients in compliance with standards of practice defined by ANA, AORN, ASPAN, and state practice act standards, as well as organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
Procedure room responsibilities include:
- Assists surgeons in preparing for and performing various pain management procedures under monitored anesthesia care and no sedation.
- Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for sterile technique, specialized equipment/technology in pain management
- Assess patients prior to procedure
- Gather supplies needed for procedure and account for supplies consumed
- Assist provider as needed
- Position and prepare patients on procedure table
- Monitor patients’ vital signs
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions
- Accurately record patient care records in EMR during and following procedures in a timely manner.
Pre-0p/PACU responsibilities include:
- Administer diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment.
- The PACU nurse will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from MAC and local anesthesia.
- Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for the procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
- Log all findings in the EMR
- Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
- Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
- Ensure patient EMR is complete, including patient history and documents are signed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current NYS RN licensure required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- BLS certification
- ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum one year of work experience in pain management procedures.
- Understanding of ASPS, and ISPAN standards; OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practice, and quality assurance required.

Pay: $46.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 4 per week
