We are seeking a responsible, sales-oriented Sales Team Member to help operate our specialty, high-quality olive oil retail store. Your job will be incredibly important in ensuring our reputation as a brand is consistent and well-respected, ensuring sales goals are met, and ensuring our customers and potential new customers receive exceptional customer service.
The ideal candidate will have retail experience and sales skills with a customer service and business mindset. To apply, you should also possess a passion for or desire to learn about premium specialty foods, cooking and culinary nutrition, entertaining, and event coordination. Interpersonal and listening skills will also be useful since you will often be acting as a liaison and knowledgeable support for customers and their selections.
Ultimately, the duties of a Sales Team Member are to make sure our store operates effectively, our brand remains high-quality, our sales continue to grow, and we keep our customers happy.
Responsibilities:
- Manage point-of-sale (“POS”) processes, including opening and closing of registers under manager supervision.
- Assist the Store Owner in implementing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing customer base.
- Coordinate daily customer service operations (e.g. sales processes, curbside orders, online orders, and other external events as needed)
- Monitor and maintain store inventory
- Communicate with customers and evaluate their needs
- Handle complaints from customers for positive resolution
- Accurately describe product origin, uses, benefits and pairings
- Prepare packaged gift sets, boxes and baskets for single and multiple order customers
- Conduct regular in-house inspections to ensure the store is clean, functional and presentable
- Contribute to the team and the business in a meaningful and valuable way
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines
- Act as our store’s representative and set an example for your fellow team members, suppliers, and customers.
Requirements:
- A US citizen, or documented to work in the US, and proficiency in English
- Reliable transportation to adhere to work schedule and occasional product deliveries
- Ability to lift 25lbs throughout some work days; Step Ladder usage may be required
- Proven experience as a Retail Sales Team Member or similar position
- Sound personal presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive and Problem-solving attitude
- Flexibility to work in shifts
- Familiarity with superior customer service principles
- Customer focus, engagement and clear communication
- Passionate about food, gourmet cooking, health, food presentation, and entertaining
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal, Temporary, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
