Title: Senior Project Interior Designer

The Senior Project Interior Designer (SPID) is an advanced, leadership level role charged in part with establishing and maintaining the overall design direction and vision of numerous projects through a collaborative process with all levels of staff, throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. Working with the support of the Studio Principal/Director and/or the Studio manager, the SPID is responsible for designing, interpreting, organizing, advancing, coordinating, and executing complex projects, and will typically be responsible for producing multiple projects simultaneously. With a high degree of experience and knowledge of all phases of a project from programming, space planning, conceptualization, design, furnishing and finish selection, documentation, construction, and installation services the SPID is charged with not only designing and documenting projects at the highest level, but also with teaching, leading and elevating staff through a transfer of knowledge and experience that fosters growth and development.
In addition, this position requires the candidate to actively participate in local Interior Design/AEC relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to develop business while growing a network of new clients and project pursuits in the region/market. This includes existing Interior Design knowledge and experience in numerous market sectors such as, multi-family, cultural, institutional, hospitality and workplace.
Qualifications:
- Registered Interior Designer, holding an NCIDQ certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Interior Design program with Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree.
- 10-15+ years’ experience in a Commercial Interior Design setting.
- Creative and collaborative with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality Designs, presentations, and construction drawings.
- Experience leading a team of professionals and consultants to meet project objectives.
- Strong understanding of current industry Design trends and challenges.
- Senior level communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface directly with clients, participate in interviews, and represent Design both inside and outside of the firm.
- Advanced competency with required computer software; including high-level knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign.
- Ability to make Design and documentation decisions requiring discretion and good judgement.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and explore alternate Design directions within the constraints of the Clients program, schedule, and budget.
- Establish project design goals in collaboration with the team/client.
- Research and promote awareness of current design trends and philosophies to staff.
- Foster collaboration and communication with both the Client and Design team.
- Collaborate with other Cooper Carry studios as required to meet project objectives.
- Maintain an advanced knowledge of materials, colors trends, and furniture/ fixture solutions.
- Review completed projects for design strengths and weaknesses to help further develop the studios design capabilities.
- Teach, develop, and inspire less experienced staff.
- Lead a team to produce a complete project document set that meets the project design intent.
- Adhere to both Cooper Carry and the Client guidelines and meet project design objectives, deadlines, and budget requirements.
- Develop details, material palettes and furnishings which are consistent with the design direction and support of the overall quality of the project.
- Direct and coordinate consultants as needed.
- Meet with Client and Contractor(s) to provide interpretation of project design.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of all project related tasks.
- Follow up and/or pass on project opportunities/leads to the appropriate individuals.
- Actively search for new marketing leads with current Clients.
- Assist in proposal/marketing efforts and presentations.
- Maintain knowledge of Cooper Carry projects and resources.
- Actively participate in professional development
- Establish and maintain base state registration requirements and professional affiliations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May directly supervise Interior Designers to include training, leading, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance planning and aiding in problem resolution. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Compensation range offered for this Job Posting: $100k - $120k annually.
