Job Title: Polisher/bathroom attendant- Full- and Part-time, On-Call (hourly)
1. Statement of the Job
The Polisher/bathroom attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for front and back restaurant areas including vacuuming, mopping and dusting using machine and manual cleaning methods, proper equipment and chemicals. Complete interior and exterior detailed cleaning assignments as needed. Clean and polish all front areas of the restaurant including glassware, silverware, guest and employee restrooms.
2. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Note: These factors constitute "essential functions" of a job.
- Must be strong enough to lift cleaning supplies;
- Must have enough stamina to stand or bend for long periods;
- Must be able to tolerate hot temperatures for an 8 hour shift;
- Polish all glasses and silverware to be used in the dining room;
- Restock stemware and flatware throughout service;
- Fold napkins and make extra place settings;
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all service areas, dining room floors, and paths of service;
- Communicate any supply shortage to management.
- Assist the dishwashers in maintaining order of plates and glassware in the dish room at all times;
- Responsible for regularly inspecting all bathrooms for cleanliness, restocking with hand soap, sanitizer, toilet paper, tissues and seat covers;
- Complete extra cleaning projects as assigned.
- Valid Heath Card must be with you at all times during your shift
- Assist with moving equipment; banquet tables, if necessary;
- Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive, professional image;
- Must maintain a high standard of personal grooming and follow the uniform guidelines per your position and company policies;
- Keep managers informed of any hazardous conditions or defective equipment.
3. Physical Requirements are:
- Walk and stands during entire shift;
- Lift and carry racks or stacks of dishes, glassware and other utensils, weighing up to 40 lbs., up to 50 times or more per shift;
- Push 150lbs to 250lbs on a pushcart in/out of the walk-in’s of 10 degrees to 140 degrees;
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and lifting;
- Work in a hot, damp environment;
- Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts from broken glass and metal cans, burns, slipping and tripping;
- Frequent washing of hands.
4. Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum experience: Six (6) months; prefer previous fine dining experience;
- Minimum Education: GED, High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations in an orderly fashion;
- Able to work unsupervised for extensive periods;
- Ability to communicate effectively with Co-Workers, Management and Guests;
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well with others;
- Must adhere to all company and departmental policies, procedures, and practices;
- Must be able to handle flexible schedule;
- Must be able to take constructive criticism and be willing to always improve;
- Must demonstrate sound judgment and maturity in his or her decision-making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations;
- Must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain Caviar Bar appearances and operating standards;
- Must possess the ability to work hands-on in any kitchen environment pertaining to a three meal period and high volume for guest services according to company standards and specifications.
5. Work Conditions:
- Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, indoor and/or outdoor service. Work may be performed in small areas with 3 feet access. Will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp and navigate through wet slippery surfaces safely. Tasks include maintenance, care and cleanliness of an assigned area. Work entails chemical usage.
6. Safety/Sanitation/HACCP/OSHA Guidelines:
- Must be able to demonstrate and ensure that the department is within HACCP guidelines.
- Must ensure and comply with a safe and hazard free work environment according to the Department of Health and OSHA regulations.
- Have knowledge of where your MSDS booklet is located for your department and understand its contents.
- Display knowledge of all safety emergency procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to cleanliness, safety and sanitation standards in accordance with department policies and the Department of Health.
